Jesus said, "For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me..." -- Matthew 25:35. Every month, church volunteers put Jesus' words into action in their neighborhood, providing a free meal to anybody who needs it. No questions asked. No red tape. No paperwork. It's an all-volunteer collaborative effort by neighbors helping neighbors. Dinner is served at:
First United Methodist Church
930 South Little Avenue
THIRD Saturday OF EACH MONTH
Free will offering accepted.
We anticipate that some of the people who come for dinner are homeless. Some are unemployed. Many are the "working poor" of our own neighborhood who have a hard time making ends meet. A lot of our guests will be children.Information gathered through the ministry of Love INC of Greater Cushing indicates the need in our community is evident in these difficult financial times. No one is turned away.
Jesus reminds us that "insofar as you did this to one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did it to me." -- Matthew 25:40.
If you wish to support Peace, Bread & Joy by donating funds, food or supplies, or by working with us on the evening of the third Saturday of the month, please contact the church office at (918) 225-LOVE. The Community Meals Ministry is an all volunteer Ministry of the body of Christ.
