About Immanuel's Mission
Our mission is guided by Jesus response when asked what is the greatest commandment in Matthew 22.37-39 and Jesus replied: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'
Immanuel (means “God with us” ) consists of compassionate and down to earth people, sinners if you will, who depend on Jesus for forgiveness of sins and led by the Holy Spirit yearn to carry the love of Christ to the world. We continually try to listen for what God is calling us to do and as humans have difficulty with, which humbles us and helps us recognize how much more we need the Lord.
We gather for worship of the Lord to sing and praise God, for forgiveness of sins, and by our baptism the Lord’s Supper, and through worship connect to the body of Christ in all times and places. We pray together, with others and individually for relationship to God for ourselves and others. We study together to learn about God and God’s people and to learn more about who we are and how we are called to respond to God’s gifts. We eat our fill at the Lord’s Supper almost every Sunday. We have time to hear one another’s stories and to pray for the needs of the known and unknown. We invite you to join us any time! When you come you always have a place with us!
We are involved with Peace, Bread and Joy, in partnership with the First United Methodist Church in Cushing on the third Saturday every month beginning at 5 PM. We pray for, and give for Global Mission, for local food pantries, for Global Hunger, local clothes pantry, Mosaic, Love Inc., the Riding Academy, David Brondos missionary, Guyana mission, titheing to the larger church in the ELCA, and other organizations. We have traveled to Arkansas and Tulsa to be involved with Feed My Hungry Children, we support the Lutheran Youth Organization, and seek other ways as God calls us out.
Come and See! There is a place for you with us!
